An art exhibition from Nigeria was hosted by the Korea Foundation Cultural Centre in Seoul, from Tuesday 1st to11th June,2010. The exhibition titled “30 Years of diplomatic relations” showcased 33 works of painting, mixed media and sculpture. It was organised by the Korean Cultural Center in collaboration with the National Gallery of Art, Nigeria to mark 30 years of hitch-free and fruitful diplomatic relations between Nigeria and South Korea.
The exhibition was declared open by Nigerian Ambassador to the Republic of Korea, His Excellency, Desmond Akawor.
Those in attendance are top arts and culture officials of the Republic of Korea and also members of the diplomatic corps in that country as well as the staff and principal officials of Nigerian embassy in Seoul and of course the Nigerian community.
The Nigerian delegation visited several culture establishment in Seoul. These include the National Museum for Contemporary Art, National Folk Museum, the South Korean National Museum and places of cultural interest. At these establishments, the Ag Director-General had a fruitful disussions with the management on issues concerning staff training, preservation and conservation of works of art in the national collection. He also made presentation of some NGA publications to them.
The head of Nigerian delegation to the exhibition was Mr Peter Eze, the chairman, board of directors of National Gallery of Art, Nigeria, in the company of the Ag Director-General, Abdullahi Muku.Other members of the delegation were Mrs Emily Maina (Member, Board of Directors, NGA); Dr. Henry Achugbu, (Ag. Director, Finance and Account); Mr Ephraim Ekah(Assistant Director, Curatorial Services Department); Mr Azubudike Esedebe(Assistant Chief Technical Officer); Mr Uche Nnadozie(Senior Visual Arts Officer(media/publicity); Miss Murja Tanimu(Research Officer). Others include Mr Chuka Nnabuife( Art Editor, Compass Newspaper), Mr Rotimi Opeyeoluwa and Mr Adesegun Adeniyi (both of African Independent Television(AIT)
