Mr. Abdullahi Muku, the Ag. Director-General of the National Gallery of Art (NGA) was on Thursday 19th August, 2010 at the Yar’Adua Civic Centre conferred with an Honorary Doctorate Degree by the European-American University of the Commonwealth of Dominica.
The event which had four (4) other eminent Nigerians conferred with the same award was witnessed by special guests and well wishers.
According to Prof. Williams A. O. Egbuta, head, All Africa Coordination, European-American University who declared the event open, the award was in recognition of existing high achievements.
Although the award had taken place in Ghana, the awardees for today’s event could not make it there and on the request of some of them, this ceremony was specially conducted in Abuja, Nigeria.
Furthermore, Prof. Egbuka informed that since the inception of the award, over 60 Nigerians have been awarded with the Honorary Doctorate Degree, amongst who are Hon. Usman Bayero Nafada, CON, Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, National Assembly, Abuja; His Excellency Alh. Aliyu Magatakarda Wamako, Governor of Sokoto State; and former Clerk of the National Assembly, Alh. Nasiru Arab.
The Ag. DG of the NGA was grateful for the recognition and re-stated his commitment to the discharge of his duties and contributions to humanity.
We at the National Gallery of Art congratulate our Ag. Director-General for this award and we pray for God’s wisdom and more ability, so he can continue to contribute to National development and specifically educational advancement for Nigerians and Africa as a whole.
