NGA celebrates Nigeria @ 50 in style with a pictorial Exhibition titled:
“The March of History: Evolution of the Nigerian Nation; Trials and Triumph”.

Mr. Abdullahi Muku, Ag. Director-General led staff of the National Gallery of Art (NGA) Nigeria in celebrating Nigeria at 50 in style with an amazing pictorial exhibition titled: “The March of History: Evolution of the Nigerian Nation; Trials and Triumph”. The exhibition which is a historical exploration of our political development starting from pre-colonial to present state Nigeria, highlighted exploits of our heroes and heroines as well as major political, economic and social events that occurred. A rich historical account which will refresh memories of witnesses and key players of these developments, a very useful material for research and scholastic tendencies; as well as valuable information and lesson for the present generation.
The opening ceremony of the exhibition which held on Tuesday 28th September 2010 at the prestigious Nicon Luxury Hotel, Central Area, Abuja was chaired by Gen. (Dr.) Yakubu Gowon (Rtd.) GCFR, former President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Federal Republic of Nigeria. On the high table were Chief Ike Ekweremadu, Deputy Senate President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria; the Chief Host of the occasion, Alh. Abubakar Sadiq Mohammed who is the Hon. Minister of Tourism, Culture & National Orientation; Barrister Peter Eze, Chairman, Board of the NGA; Chief Dr. (Mrs.) Nike Okundaye of the Nike Gallery and Mr. Abdullahi Muku, Ag. Director-General (NGA).
The chairman of the event, General Yakubu Gowon (Rtd.) GCFR in his remarks thanked the Federal Ministry of Tourism, Culture & National Orientation and the National Gallery of Art (NGA) for making him the chairman of a historical adventure and exhibition to celebrate Nigeria at 50. He used the opportunity to stress the need to uphold the unity of the country and for the various religious adherents to use their faith as instrument for peace and unity of the country.
