PROGRAMME NATIONAL STUDIOS OF ART CONCEPT: To be established alongside the galleries across the country, is a National Studios of Art of international standard to be fully equipped to complement the activities of the galleries.This is aimed at providing temporary accommodation within a specific time frame for young visual artists without studios to work. CHILDREN ART WORKSHOP The Saturday Art Club in Abuja is one year old, introduced by the National Gallery of Art in June, 2006. The club meets fortnightly. So far a total number of 50 schools and 300 children have participated in the “Catch them Young” children Art Educational programme. More> |
ANNUAL DISTINGUISHED LECTURE: The Annual Distinguished lecture is one of the National Gallery of Art yearly programme designed among others, to educate the general public on the various aspects of Nigerian Culture, also to build up source materials on the same for use. The NGA has successfully packaged nine editions of it delivered by accomplished professors and other eminent scholars which have provided quite interesting materials for reading. |
NATIONAL SYMPOSIUM ON CONTEMPORARY NIGERIAN ART This is another programme designed among others, to bring artists and art scholars together to present and discuss papers on various aspects of Nigerian Visual Art. Such written materials are collated, type written and published for reading at various levels of art schools in Nigeria. In addition to the two programmes mentioned above the Department of Research & Education embarks on other programmes as may be directed by the Director – General.
